The session was delivered by Mr. Shreyas Kulkarni\, Product Manager\, Google\, California\, who shared valuable insights into the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence. \nThe talk commenced with an overview of the evolution of Artificial Intelligence\, followed by an introduction to Machine Learning and Generative AI. The resource person clearly explained the distinction between traditional predictive AI models and generative models\, using simple analogies to help students understand how Large Language Models (LLMs) process and generate information in a manner similar to human conceptual understanding. \nThe session provided an in-depth exploration of the key architectures powering Generative AI\, including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs)\, Transformer Architecture\, and Diffusion Models. Students explored its world-class infrastructure and facilities\, gaining an appreciation for the scale\, innovation\, discipline\, and excellence that characterize the organization. This was followed by an introductory video presentation highlighting Infosys’ journey\, global presence\, core service offerings\, and vision for technology-driven transformation\, providing students with valuable insights into the company’s role in shaping the IT industry. \nThe highlight of the visit was an engaging interactive session conducted by Ms. Swetha Maheshwari from the Training Department\, who shared insights from her 18 years of experience at Infosys. The hackathon encouraged participants to develop AI-driven solutions addressing real-world challenges across four themes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Healthcare and Well-being\, Sustainable Cities and Environment\, Education and Skill Development\, and Social Good\, Ethics\, and Governance. \nA total of 48 teams actively participated in the event\, collaborating to ideate\, design\, and develop innovative applications with real-world impact. The projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges from academia and industry\, including Dr. R. Krishnan\, Professor\, Department of CSE\, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering; Mr. Joel D Joy\, Data Scientist\, Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG)\, IISc Bangalore; Ms. Koesha Sinha\, Data Scientist\, Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG)\, IISc Bangalore; and Mr. Jainam P\, Software Development Engineer\, Siemens Healthineers. \nThe evaluation was based on innovation\, technical implementation\, real-world impact\, and presentation. The workshop was conducted in offline mode over 12 hours\, with the participation of 136 students\, 2 faculty members\, and 2 external participants. \nThe workshop commenced with an introduction to Generative AI models\, familiarizing participants with Large Language Models (LLMs)\, image generation techniques\, and code generation tools. The sessions emphasized creating\, customizing\, and deploying AI-powered solutions while also highlighting ethical\, societal\, and professional considerations associated with AI-generated content. Throughout the workshop\, participants gained hands-on experience using accessible AI tools to improve productivity\, automation\, and innovation across various domains. \nThe first day focused on Text Generation with Embeddings and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Students explored Baseline RAG and GraphRAG workflows\, learned how embeddings enable semantic search\, and practiced loading\, storing\, and querying documents using vector databases such as Pinecone and FAISS. The session also introduced LangChain-based RAG pipelines and self-querying techniques\, allowing participants to build context-aware text generation systems through practical implementation. \nThe second day was dedicated to Diffusion Models for Image Generation\, where participants explored leading AI image generation platforms including OpenAI DALL·E\, Midjourney\, Stable Diffusion\, and Google Gemini.
