SUMMARY:Applied Deep Learning
DESCRIPTION:Applied Deep Learning mini-course offered by Nishanth Shetty at BNMIT covered the basics of deep learning\, introduced the popular deep learning library PyTorch\, and taught the students to solve regression and classification problems with linear and logistic regression\, respectively. They were also introduced to neural networks and their application to solving classification and regression problems\, the famous bias-variance tradeoff from supervised learning and tools to combat it with regularization. The course ended with an introduction to convolutional neural networks to solve image classification problems. The course was mostly hands-on\, with the students being encouraged to solve a lot of exercises to help them ‘grok’ the concepts taught.  \n

The event under the coordination of Dr. Amith Shekhar\, Associate professor\, witnessed the active participation from 140 students from the fourth semester of the CSE department. Mr. Rakesh K Ramaswamy\, a seasoned Corporate Trainer from Mysuru Trainer and Developers\, along with his team of two members\, was invited as the resource person for the workshop. \nThis hands-on experience with MongoDB and its applications proved to be enlightening for the participants\, introducing them to new technological tools and techniques. The students expressed their positive feedback about the event. They found the workshop immensely useful and insightful\, enhancing their understanding of MongoDB and its practical applications.

DESCRIPTION:Workshop on Artificial and Machine Learning \n  \nAccording to Stanford Researcher\, John McCarthy\, “Artificial Intelligence is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines\, especially intelligent computer programs. Artificial Intelligence is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence\, but AI does not have to confine itself to biologically observable methods.” \nAI and ML are everywhere\, from the corporate world to gaming stations\, and perhaps\, more than our regular lives\, AI is impacting the business world more. Artificial intelligence describes a machine that is capable of imitating and performing intelligent human behavior. Some of these tasks could include problem solving and decision making or specific activities requiring acute perception\, recognition\, or translation abilities. \nSo\, in the two-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning we would learn the concepts\, syntax\, semantics and gain introductory knowledge in Machine Learning principles through examples that provide useful exposure to the various concepts of AI.

The Resource person for the workshop was Mr. Prashanth Raghu. \n\n \nTwo days workshop on ‘Mobile Control Robotics’ was organized under CSI-BNMIT Student branch on 15th and 16th February 2019. The Resource person was Mr. Vighnesh Shinde\, Robotics & Embedded System Trainer\, Finland Labs. \n \nTwo days workshop on ‘Input-Output Interfacing with Embedded System’ was organized under CSI-BNMIT Student branch on 3rd and 4th May 2019. The Resource person was Mr. Kotresh M\, an experienced trainer and currently the director of organization Indian Tech-Keys\, Bengaluru. \n \nTwo days workshop on ‘Circuit Prototyping’ was organized under CSI-BNMIT Student branch on 2nd and 3rd November 2018. The Resource person was Mr. Kotresh M\, an experienced trainer and currently the director of organization Indian Tech-Keys\, Bengaluru. \n  \n \nTwo days workshop on ‘Virtual Reality’ was organized in collaboration with ITC-IIT\, Mumbai and CSI-BNMIT Student branch on 16th and 17th March 2018. The Resource Person for this workshop was Mr. Janardhan Chaudhary\, design engineer at Design Technology. \n  \n \nThree days workshop on ‘Android Application Development’ was organized under CSI-BNMIT on 4th \, 5th and 6th  of November\, 2017. The Resource person for this workshop\, Mr. Vishwa Kiran \, is a Senior Corporate Trainer from Aprameyah Technologies Pvt. Ltd. \n  \n \nTwo days workshop on ‘Webservices\, Javascript and JSON’ was organized under CSI-BNMIT student chapter on 4th and 5th November\, 2017. The Resource person Mr. Albin Xavier\, is a Corporate Trainer and Sun Certified Java Programmer from Aprameyah Technologies Pvt.
