These two papers were newly introduced for third semester MBA HR and Marketing specialization respectively. The faculties teaching these subjects across VTU affiliated colleges in Karnataka attended this program. Industry experts from the field of HR and Marketing Analytics were invited for the program. \nRamesh Sundararajan\, HR Analytics Consultant\, spoke about the content and details of HR analytics syllabus of VTU and explained the approach and the application of the concepts in the industry \nThe session on Marketing Analytics was handled by Saurabh Rishi\, a Marketing Analytics Consultant. He threw light upon various marketing research and analytics carried in the industry and also briefed about various software packages available in the industry to carry out analytics.

SUMMARY:International Conference on Thermo-Fluids and Energy Systems (ICTES-2019)
DESCRIPTION:  \nB.N.M. Institute of Technology hosted a two day International Conference on Thermo-fluids and Energy Systems on 27 th and 28 th December 2019. The conference was inaugurated by Padmashri A. S. Kiran Kumar\, Former Secretary\, Department of Space\, Chairman\, ISRO. The inaugural function was presided by Dr. C. Naganna\, Chairman\, Governing Council\, BNMIT. In his enthralling inaugural address\, Shri. A S Kiran Kumar\, recounted the humble beginnings of Indian space program under the visionary leadership of Padma Vibhushan Vikram Sarabhai\, the father of Indian space program. He highlighted the evolution of India’space program\, the challenges that were faced during the nascent stages and the success stories of PSLV\, GSLV\, Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan. He drew attention to the ambitious Ganganyaan project\, urging the young minds to actively engage and contribute to the scientific progress of the country. \nEmphasizing that the role of technology is to enrich the quality of life\, he narrated the transformation brought about by ISROs  avigation satellite OCEANSAT in the livelihood of fishermen from Thumba\, Kerala. He concluded his inspiring address by  nderscoring the importance of sustainable development for India’s progress. Prof. T. J. Rama Murthy\, Director\, BNMIT\, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Krishna Murthy G. N.\, Principal\, BNMIT and Dr. Mukesh Patil\, Conference Chair & HoD\, Mechanical Engineering\, BNMIT took part in the proceedings. \nThe conference saw a confluence of distinguished researchers from Purdue University\, USA; Swansea University\, UK; Sorbonne University\, France and Pusan National University\, South Korea. The conference themes included the broad topics under renewable energy\, alternate energy\, heat transfer\, IC Engines\, combustion\, thermodynamics\, fluid mechanics\, refrigeration & air conditioning\, cryogenic heat transfer and porous media. A congenial mix of enthusiastic delegates from states as far as Punjab\, Madhya Pradesh\, Gujarat\, Assam and also neighboring states of Maharashtra\, Tamil Nadu\, Telangana and Karnataka representing premier institutions and organizations such as IISc\, IITs\, NITs\, VIT\, Mexico University\, Institute for Plasma Research\, CPRI\, Bosch\, Avasarala Technologies and Indian Navy participated in the conference deliberations. \n  \nReport-on-ICTES-2019

The SDP program was completely a hands-on session on MATLAB held during 3rd to 12th February 2020. The SDP program was successful in training the students to acquire the practical knowledge\, and also had better understanding of the industrial practices in the area of Design Concepts of Electrical Engineering using Modeling Physical Systems with Sim-scape\, Machine learning and deep learning. The response of the program was very encouraging.

SUMMARY:Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from MSME
DESCRIPTION:SIX SIGMA GREENBELT \nSIX SIGMA GREENBELT PROGRAMS is a 24 hours training program conducted by MSME (Ministry of Micro\, Small and Medium Enterprise) in our college for the department of MBA students. 35 students with 3 faculty participated in the program. The duration of course was 12 days  from 03/05/2020. The program was conducted through online (ZOOM) due to the pandemic situation. \nSix Sigma Green Belt certification establishes professionals’ skills on data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process across industries. It is set of tools and techniques for process improvement. It seeks to improve the quality of the output of a process by identifying and removing the causes\, defects and minimizing impact variability in manufacturing and business process. It uses set of statistical methods/tools like Analysis of variance\, Regression analysis\, Correlation\, Scatter diagram\, Control charts\, etc. here six sigma defines two concepts LEAN & SIX SIGMA. Six sigma reduces the variation in standards andactual\, so when the variation reduces then the standards can be reached easily. Variation occurs from special and common causes. Lean helps to reduce the waste like over production\, excess inventory\, over processing\, etc. so LEAN SIX SIGMA helps in reducing the waste and improving the quality so that the standards are met in time. A major target of quality assurance is the minimization of error rates in order enhance patient safety. It is a method targeting zero error (3.4 errors per million events) used in industry. \nAPPROACH OF SIX SIGMA: – \nSIX SIGMA can be approached with five different phases where the problems are identified\, measured\, analysed\, solutions can be improved and finally controlling the process seeing that whether the process is within the control or not. \n\nDefine phase defines the project / an item / area in which there is a need for improvement. from the voice of customers\, the problems are identified. VOC refers to the feedback\, complaints\, etc. there could be internal and external voices.\nMeasure phase minimizes the measurement variation. Need for identifying how much variability / tolerance can be accepted. Repeatability and Reproducibility can be analysed. Kappa measures the attribute agreement.\nAnalysis phase helps to identify the root causes and helps in focusing on the causes which have the greatest impact. Here tools used are paired sample T test\, scatter diagram\, pareto diagram\, etc.\nImprove phase helps in improving the ideas. Solutions to the problems. Brain storming Activity.\nControl phase helps to keep improvement. Train employees to adapt new methods.\n\nOutcome \nSIX SIGMA can be used in any field like HR\, MARKETING\, FINANCE\, etc. can be used in any kind of industry like primary\, secondary/manufacturing\, service industry. Six sigma benefits in professional development\, analyse the business performance ahead of competitors\, helps in discovering the main drivers of the problem. \nThis program adds the value as it is the greatest challenge for every company/industry\, so certification of green belt will help facing the challenges. The concepts were very well explained through more number of examples. the process of using six sigma software (Minitab) was very well explained and the trainer was more student friendly\, students were free to arise the questions and doubts were clearly solved. The tremendous effort of Teachers\, Trainer and Students gave the successful end of the program.

A total number of 450 students across different cities of Karnataka participated in the Webinar. \nDay 1 was marked for Finance specialization and the resource person was Mr. Viswanathan P\, chartered accountant & CEO at Vyoma Linguistic Labs Foundation\, Bangalore. He highlighted that  the Finance jobs require strong quantitative aptitude\, voracious reading skills\, teamwork\, perspective thinking ability and common sense as a prerequisite \nDay 2\, on 25th June 2020\, was dedicated to Human Resource Management\, where the guest speaker was Mr. Mohan Kumar\, Practice Head at Wipro Technologies. This workshop was an opportunity for the pre-final year and final year students to enrich their knowledge and skills in developing various engineering solutions.\nThe resource person for day one was Mr. Manish Kumar Gupta\, Manager – Business Development\, Low Voltage Switchgear\, Siemens Limited\, Bengaluru. He shared information about Low Voltage System design\, Low Voltage Switchgear and Switchboard Assemblies\, Intelligent Motor Control Center (MCC)\, Power Control Center and communication protocols used in Industries.\nThe topic for the second day webinar was ‘Electrical Switchgear and its applications’. The resource person was Mr. Shivanand D V\, CEO\, Universal Power Controllers\, Sathyamangala Industrial Area\, Tumkur-04\, India. The major topics covered were types of cable & it’s specifications\, Three phase Industrial loads\, Electrical power specifications of various countries\, working principle of water treatment plants\, Miniature circuit breakers (MCB)\, Moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB)\, Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB)\, Sulfur Hexafluoride Breakers (SF6)\, Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB)\, Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB)\, various parts of panel boards and high voltage switch gear mechanism.\nThe participants were able to gain knowledge of Motor control & protection systems and high voltage switch gear protection systems. The two days’ webinar was quite useful for the participants to do better projects in future endeavours in the field of Electrical\, Electronics and Control engineering.
