The Department handles campus placement for B.E., M.Tech & MBA graduating students. It has a consistent record of placing the students in various prestigious companies every year.

About Head of the Department

Dr. Saritha Chakrasali is currently the Head of the department of Training & Placement, and also professor in Department of Information Science & Engineering, BNMIT. She has obtained her bachelors from Bangalore University, India, masters from AAIDU, India and Ph. D from Madurai Kamraj University, India. She has 17 years experience in Teaching and 11 years of experience in Research. To her credit, she has 18 publications in reputed International/ National journals and conferences. She had delivered a talk in a workshop on Basic & advanced algorithms conducted by ACE Hackers at Wipro digital, Bangalore. She was also a chairperson of the Technical session in International conference on Fluid Dynamics and its Applications organized at BNMIT. Dr. Saritha Chakrasali have attended 24 workshops in and out of the college and has organized various workshops and a conference at BNMIT. She is also a life time member of ISTE and member of CSI. Her area of expertise is Image Processing. Presently, she is guiding one Ph.D student.

Awards/ Achievements:

  • Final year project titled “Computed Tomography Images: 2D to 3D reconstruction and Visualization”. Members: Namrata Pratap Simha, Vishwas Manohar, Sudarshan Suresh M. and Dheeraj D. Bhat, under her guidance was awarded the best project among the final year projects of ISE department 2016.
  • Awarded a letter of appreciation for scoring more than 90% in the self appraisal for the academic year 2013-14, on 5th September, 2015.
  • Final year project batch under her guidance was selected for KSCST Student Project Programme 2014-15 and participated in KSCST Seminar (38th series) at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Mgt. , Mangalore(20-21st August2015), Title” Computed Tomography Images: 2D to 3D reconstruction and Visualization”. Members: Selvi Revathi, Deepthi S.M., Akila Nayak.
  • The project group guided by her received certificate for participating in the RUSI Award Programme for the project “Medical Image Registration & Fusion using Contourlet Transform” (Aparna BV, Akshatha, Sathyasri Dinthi & Nupur Jain) – held on 2nd May 2015 at KASSIA by Rotary Bangalore Udyog.
  • Both the Final year project batches under her guidance in 2013 were selected for the third edition of JED-I, in which a total of 175 projects were registered from 20 states. Out of this only 66 were shortlisted for the finals. One of the batches with Sukriti Sharma, Apurva V.S and Vidya Meenakshi .K have won the Best Project Award in the computing division for the project “Traffic Density Estimation using SVM Classifier” at IISc which included a cash prize of Rs 75,000/-, 2013.
  • She has eceived the Certificate of Commendation from Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology, IISc, 1994-95.
  • She has received Merit Certificate in recognition of the high position secured in the list of meritorious candidates qualifying for awards from Govt. of Karnataka, National Scholarship Scheme, 1989.

Training Methodology:

The Training methodology is consistent with the mission of the Institution as it contributes to society through innovative and quality education.

Training & Placement Department provides training in soft skills, communication and career planning is imparted to students in the first three years. Various programs are conducted for the recruits by the companies. Some of the programs are Infosys TQ Program, Cognizant early engagement programs, KPMG accounting program and so on. Also, students attend the industrial training in various companies like Cognizant, Danskee IT, Thomson Reuters, McAfee, One Direct and many more. BNMIT is ranked top in the colleges affiliated to VTU.

The training encompasses the following niche skills required for the overall development of students:

First Year

Guidance for Higher Studies:

The Department of Training and Placement of the college provides guidance and all the assistance for the students in order to achieve their career goals. The department takes steps to identify the demands of the industry and prepares students towards their needs. Adequate emphasis is given for soft skill development complementing the regular academic programs.

The Department plans, monitors and implements career guidance services including counseling for higher studies across all branches involving the placement coordinators’ team and trainers at the institution level.

The Training and Placement Department will extend career guidance support to students in terms of various job opportunities in Government and private sectors.

Department has also established a Career Guidance Cell in association with M/s Byjus. The Career Counselling Cell will help students in counseling & preparation for higher studies, profile building, which will enable them to seek admission in reputed Universities across the world. The expert team of Counsellors from BYJU’S, working in Education Space will visit BNMIT twice a week and provide personalized, authentic and reliable guidance around the career path of students. Apart from guiding students to enroll in Indian and Foreign Universities, BYJU’s will conduct CAT and GRE classes in the first Phase and GMAT and other competitive examination preparation courses in the second phase, for those students who register in advance.

An MOU has also been signed with The Princeton Review, USA which is represented in Bengaluru by Manya Education Pvt. Ltd. The MOU envisages Manya addressing students on the opportunities available in abroad universities, counseling them on all the options and training them in the college in clearing GRE, TOEFL and other competitive examinations. Subsequently, they will guide them in applying for prestigious universities and getting admission for the same.

Classes for GRE and CAT will be held on Monday’s and Thursday’s of the week after the regular academic hours. Student’s can avail this opportunity at a special discounted training fee.
