To be a department to address the needs of application of physics in Engineering.

About the Department:

The Physics Department has enthusiastic and academically experienced teaching and technical staff. Currently, the department has two doctorate holders and the other faculty members have registered for their Ph.D. programme. The Department has been recognized as Research Centre under VTU, Belgavi. Faculties are actively involved in research activities in the areas of Photophysics, Materials Science, NMR Spectroscopy, Signal processing, Image processing & Quantum computation.

            The Department aims in equipping the future engineers with various aspects of physics. The Engineering Physics Lab is well furnished with latest equipments and all necessary facilities. The Department also has a research laboratory to enable the faculty members to pursue experimental research in the field of molecular spectroscopy and nanotechnology

About the Head of the Department:

Dr. Deepa H R, Professor and Head, Department of Physics has 19 years of teaching experience. Professor Deepa H R has obtained Master degree from Kuvempu University, Shimoga and doctoral degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. Professor has 10 research publications in reputed journals. She is presently guiding two research scholars for Ph.D. degree in BNMIT. Her area of research is Photophysics and Nanotechnology.  She has worked as a Co-investigator for the research project funded by VTU, Belgavi.  She has also been the reviewer of reputed international journals in the field of molecular spectroscopy.

1. A Poster Competition on the Theme “Recent Advances in Science & Technology in solving Energy Crisis using alternate Energy Sources” was conducted during on 28th February 2018 for I year students on the occasion of National Science Day.

2. A Lecture Competition on the Theme “Science and Technology for Specially Abled Persons” was conducted during February 2017 for I year students on the occasion of National Science Day.

3. A Poster Competition on the Theme “Recent Advances in Science & Technology: Health, Environment and Energy Sectors” was conducted during April 2016 for I year students.
