  • To provide knowledge of Engineering Physics needed for understanding Engineering courses.
  • To provide a platform to keep abreast with current happenings in Science & Technology.
  • To engage faculty members in research, to enrich teaching-learning process.

About the Department:

The Physics Department has enthusiastic and academically experienced faculty members. The Department aims in equipping the future engineers with various aspects of physics, that make them to understand, develop and innovate, thus contributing to the technological development of tomorrow. The department has highly research oriented faculty who are actively involved in research activities in the areas of Photophysics, Materials Science, NMR Spectroscopy, Signal processing, Image processing & Quantum computation. The Department has got well-established laboratory to provide good hands-on experience in physics experiments to the students. The Department also has a research laboratory with facilities developed to carry out research in the field of molecular spectroscopy.

About the Head of the Department:

Dr. Deepa H R has obtained doctoral degree in 2014 from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. She is presently guiding two research scholars for Ph.D. degree in BNMIT. Her area of research is Photophysics that includes investigation of effect of metal nanoparticles/aliphatic and aromatic amines on photophysical properties of fluorescent organic molecules.   She has worked as a Co-investigator for the research project funded by VTU, Belgavi.  She has also been the reviewer of reputed international journals in the field of molecular spectroscopy.
