The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, in association with the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Branch Chapter, organized GenX – Generative AI Hackathon on 17th March 2026 to foster innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students through Generative AI technologies. The hackathon encouraged participants to develop AI-driven solutions addressing real-world challenges across four themes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Healthcare and Well-being, Sustainable Cities and Environment, Education and Skill Development, and Social Good, Ethics, and Governance.

A total of 48 teams actively participated in the event, collaborating to ideate, design, and develop innovative applications with real-world impact. The projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges from academia and industry, including Dr. R. Krishnan, Professor, Department of CSE, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering; Mr. Joel D Joy, Data Scientist, Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG), IISc Bangalore; Ms. Koesha Sinha, Data Scientist, Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG), IISc Bangalore; and Mr. Jainam P, Software Development Engineer, Siemens Healthineers.

The evaluation was based on innovation, technical implementation, real-world impact, and presentation. Overall, the hackathon provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their creativity, strengthen teamwork and technical skills, and gain valuable exposure to the practical applications of Generative AI in solving societal challenges.
