Department Overview

Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) is an established Department at B.N.M Institute of Technology (BNMIT), with a reputation of more than 18 years. The department also boasts itself with more than thousand alumni and many of them have built bright careers and successfully emerged as captains in their respective fields.
Our course provides equal importance to theory and hands-on sessions. The classes are handled by highly hailed academicians. During the laboratory sessions, the students are aided with skilled technicians. Specialized subjects include but not limited to Power System Analysis, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines and Drives, Analog and Digital Electronics, High Voltage Engineering, etc. While the focus is on the hardware design, the students will also learn the foundations of programming and complete the set of technical skills required in today’s industrial standard.
Electrical & Electronics Engineering Graduates can excel as power engineers to design systems and minimize power losses during generation, transmission and distribution. They can work as Data analyst/Diagnostic Engineer, Maintenance Manager in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. They design, develop, test Electrical devices and equipment which includes electrical generators & motors, navigation systems, electrical Vehicles, and electrical systems for automobiles and aircrafts etc.

Message From The HOD

Dear stakeholders, Greetings from EEE, BNMIT!
B N M Institute of Technology was established in the year 2001. It has achieved academic laurels in a short span of time and is one of the top preferred institutes in technical education in Karnataka.
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department was established in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 students. BNMIT is an autonomous institution since 2021 which redesigned & redefined Electrical & Electronics Engineering with AI & ML Enabled & Computer Aided courses. The syllabus is designed to suit for all domains of Engineering & Technology. Ever since its inception in the year 2002, the Electrical and Electronics Department of BNMIT has got a respectable name, both in the state and the region and has achieved many milestones as below:
• The EEE program is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the academic years 2018-19 to 2024-25 and valid up-to 30/6/2025.
• VTU R & D center with Research / Doctoral Program i.e. PhD/M.Sc. (Engg.) by research.
• Established Center of Excellence in High Voltage Engineering. The department has received AICTE-MODROBS grant of Rs. 13,00,000/- for Modernization of Relay & High Voltage Laboratory.
• Established Center of Excellence in “Electric Vehicle Technology” in the year 2023 in collaboration with NewGen IEDC, DST, Govt. of India. The NewGen IEDC has sanctioned Rs. 10 Lakhs for executing various projects under Electric Vehicle Technology.
• VTU ranks & awards: No. of UG Ranks: 14, No. of PG ranks: 13, No. of Gold medals: 18 and many more.
• Technical papers published/presented in national & international Journals/conferences: 120+, Patents published/granted: 05
• No. of faculty members with PhD: 07 [50%], No. of faculty members pursuing PhD: 06 [43%].

The department conducts skill development programs, workshops, seminars, invited talks by industry experts & Alumni series in addition to innovative classroom teaching and laboratories. The students are guided and motivated to do innovative projects and are also encouraged to participate in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The training and placement activities are best and students are placed in core companies, hardware, software, Power system, embedded systems, power electronics, renewable energy sources, electric vehicle technology companies.
The laboratories are well equipped with higher end computers, high speed internet, Wi-Fi accessibility, center of excellence in high voltage & EV technology ensure world class standard of education and make students industry ready to meets the needs of the present market trends.
