Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BNMIT started in the year 2001 with an intake of 60 and present intake is 120. The Department is renowned for imparting state of the art education with well qualified and dedicated faculty members. The Faculty members have expertise in various domains of Computer Science and Engineering and are able to mentor and monitor students for betterment in life and good growth in career.
The Department offers undergraduate programme and postgraduate programme in Computer Science and Engineering. A Well equipped Research & Development (R&D) Center, affiliated to VTU has been set to cater to the needs of the research scholars to conduct cutting edge research towards doctoral degree.
Teaching learning process is well defined in the Department to make bright students explore the trending technology via Skill Development Programmes organized by the Industry Institute Interaction Cell and slow learners are encouraged to perform better in University exams through Performance Enhancement Classes.
R&D in the Department is a pursuit of encouragement to faculty and students to think, model and design innovative ideas. This is facilitated through Innovative Project Labs (IPL) and funding support through Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) for prototyping the ideas by students.

To be a renowned department for education in Humanities in Karnataka state, moulding students into professional engineers, in the areas of Humanities, Liberal arts & Creative arts through outcome based quality education and nurture them to emerge as professional leaders, lifelong learners and responsible citizens of global community.

Department Overview
The department of Humanities engage in teaching Professional Communication, Yoga, Innovation & Design Thinking, Scientific Foundation of Health, Constitution of India, Universal Human Values & Professional Ethics, Kannada, Technical English,Ability Enhancement Skills and Biology for Engineers, Social Connect & Responsibility, Employability and Entrepreneurial skills, Liberal arts & creative arts, Concern towards Nature and Life skills for BE students. The faculty members engage in teaching – learning activities and conducting workshops for students to build social skills and broaden critical and creative competencies.
BNMIT is one of the very few Engineering College in the entire Karnataka to introduce Liberal Arts and Creative Arts (LACA) in the academic’s curriculum as a credited course. The students get to choose one out of the following LACA courses offered in the 1st and 2nd semester.

Message From The HOD
Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BNMIT, Bangalore.
The Department is well-supported by seasoned faculty members with an average experience of 10 years. It also boasts of a state-of-the-art infrastructure facility that supports and encourages students to acquire knowledge and gain practical experience. During the course, students mould their careers, polish their technical skills and inculcate team spirit with exceptional oral and written communication skills. The Department also extends financial and technical support to the students to participate in competitions and hackathons at state, national and international levels.
The faculty members are encouraged to acquire higher degrees and conduct research in the areas that benefit the society. They are also supported in conductingand participating in workshops, symposium and conferences at national and international levels. Last but not the least, they are motivated to adopt innovative teaching methodologies and best practices to make classroom a pursuit of learning.
