The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter – BNMIT, organized a Technical Talk on “Generative AI and its Applications” on 26th February 2026 to provide 4th semester students with a comprehensive understanding of Generative AI, its underlying technologies, and its real-world applications across diverse domains. The session was delivered by Mr. Shreyas Kulkarni, Product Manager, Google, California, who shared valuable insights into the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence.

The talk commenced with an overview of the evolution of Artificial Intelligence, followed by an introduction to Machine Learning and Generative AI. The resource person clearly explained the distinction between traditional predictive AI models and generative models, using simple analogies to help students understand how Large Language Models (LLMs) process and generate information in a manner similar to human conceptual understanding.

The session provided an in-depth exploration of the key architectures powering Generative AI, including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Transformer Architecture, and Diffusion Models. Students also gained insights into leading Large Language Models such as GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, and LLaMA, along with their applications in content generation, automation, creativity, and intelligent problem-solving across various industries.

A dedicated segment focused on the ethical and responsible use of Generative AI, emphasizing that technological advancements must be accompanied by ethical considerations, accountability, and responsible innovation. The session concluded with a highly interactive question-and-answer session, where students enthusiastically engaged with the speaker and clarified their doubts regarding emerging AI technologies and future career opportunities.
