Department of Mathematics in association with the Board for IT Education Standards (BITES) organized a five-day workshop on Computational Methods for Partial Differential Equations using MATLAB during June 10 – 14, 2019. Dr. G. D. Veerappa Gowda, Professor in Mathematics. TIFR, Center for Applicable Mathematics, Bengaluru inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp and program was graced by the Director, Prof. T. J. Rama Murthy. Dr. G. D. Veerappa Gowda in his inaugural address explained the numerical analysis of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) which is designed to emphasize the interaction between mathematical theory & numerical methods in solving engineering problems.
Prof. G. D. Veerappa Gowda emphasized on computational tools to solve problems, Wave equations in acoustics, fundamental principles and applications of Partial Differential Equations. Sri. Ganesh Vaidya Conducted hands on sessions on MATLAB tool to solve PDEs, wave equation, heat equation, Laplace equation and conservation laws.
