A Workshop on “A Day in the Life of an Entrepreneur”

The “A Day in the Life of an Entrepreneur” workshop hosted by EIMR featured insightful seminars and interactive activities aimed at providing participants, particularly MBA students, with a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurship. The event commenced with a seminar led by Ms. Victoria, a seasoned business specialist, who emphasized the qualities essential for aspiring entrepreneurs and highlighted EIMR’s role in nurturing entrepreneurial skills. Following this, Mr. Tanay Patil, an accomplished entrepreneur and investor, facilitated engaging activities focused on brainstorming ideas, generating brands, and understanding investor perspectives.

Overall, the workshop provided a holistic understanding of entrepreneurship, inspiring creativity, and equipping participants with practical insights to navigate the challenges of the business world. The students enjoyed thorouughrouly with the activities conducted by EIMR.The success of the event was attributed to the collaborative efforts of the organizers and key individuals, with special acknowledgment to Prof. Mukund Sharma and BNMIT management for their support.

OBEL Experience

The Outbound Experiential Learning (OBEL) program designed for the MBA students of BNMIT marked a significant milestone as it embarked on its 3rd edition, taking place from the 26th to the 28th of July. This immersive journey commenced with a captivating visit to the Big Barn farm, setting the stage for a series of transformative experiences. The inaugural day unfolded with a compelling session led by Prof. Satish, fostering critical thinking and nurturing teamwork, essential skills for aspiring business leaders. This initial engagement paved the way for an array of adventures that lay ahead.

Under the guidance of the seasoned experts at the Big Barn farm, the participants were introduced to the diverse realm of adventure activities on the second day of the program. An insightful session covered not only the intricacies of different adventure activities but also delved into the meticulous process of planning these endeavours. The mastery of equipment used in such activities and the art of tying various knots were demonstrated and practiced, offering a hands-on understanding that enriched the learning experience.

As the program progressed into its second day, participants continued to expand their skill set with an immersive exploration of various knots, reinforcing their practical prowess. A live demonstration illustrating the intricacies of planning and executing rappelling activities added a layer of practicality to the learning process. The stage was thus set for a more comprehensive application of acquired knowledge.

The pinnacle of the OBEL program unfolded on the third day as the participants embarked on a journey to Mutthurayaswamy hills. Amidst the tranquil hills, a series of exhilarating activities awaited, including rappelling, caving, and vertical trekking. These immersive experiences not only tested their physical endurance but also fostered resilience, adaptability, and a deep sense of accomplishment. The combination of these dynamic activities provided an unmatched learning opportunity, as participants not only acquired new skills but also gained valuable insights into their own capabilities and potential.

In summation, the OBEL program for BNMIT’s MBA students delivered a holistic and enriching experience that extended beyond the classroom. With a comprehensive blend of theoretical insights and practical applications, the program seamlessly merged critical thinking, teamwork, and adventure into an invaluable learning journey. The participants emerged not only with newfound knowledge and skills but also with a profound sense of achievement and personal growth. This 3rd edition of the OBEL program undoubtedly stands as a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing its students with unparalleled opportunities for holistic education and experiential learning.

Adventure club organized a two-day trip to Kudremukha

BNMIT Adventure club organized a two-day trip to Kudremukha for 3 rd Semester MBA students. This was conducted as a part of Outbound
Experiential Learning (OBEL) program, where they applied the principles of management through hands-on, real-world experiences. 81 students
actively took part in this program. During the program, students had the chance to put their skills to the test and gain valuable insights into the world
of business and management. They learned how to communicate effectively, work in teams, and solve problems under pressure – all skills that are
essential to success in the professional world.

Industrial Visit to Ace Designers Ltd. and TVS Motors

BNMIT organized an industrial visit on the 9th of September, 2022 to ACE DESIGNERS Ltd and TVS Motors Ltd. for MBA students.

Ace Designers Ltd, located in Peenya Industrial Estate is led by three experienced design engineers and powered by a team of more than 500 members. It is one of India’s largest machine tool manufacturing companies. It was founded in 1979 as a design-consulting firm. The students were then divided into two groups and were assigned a guide by the Company. The students were taken on a tour through the following facilities-

  • Component manufacturing unit
  • Sheet Metal Manufacturing
  • Assembly line flow area
  • Warehouses

TVS Motors

TVS Motor Company is a reputed two and three-wheeler manufacturer globally, championing progress through Mobility with a focus on sustainability. Students were taken to their manufacturing plant located at Hosur. The plant at Hosur is involved in assembling of 100cc bikes. Students witnessed manufacturing of 100cc bikes starting from Machining followed by Fabrication, Engine assembly, Painting and finally Vehicle assembly.

Outbound Experiential Learning Activity at Big Barn Farm

A four-day outdoor camp was held at Big Barn Farm for Second semester MBA students as a part of ‘Outbound experiential learning’ in the month of Aug 2022 (Section A – 9th to 12th Aug and Section B – 16th to 19th Aug). Outbound Experiential Learning Activity is a blend of academic learning and soft skill training through outdoor activities. Faculty members of Dept. of Business Administration conducted practical sessions at the camp related to their respective subjects.  In order to improve leadership skills among the students through, many outdoor games and adventure activities were conducted by the Trainers at Big Barn. Students were divided among groups and assigned with specific tasks. The tasks were designed with an objective of honing the key managerial skills of students – planning, organizing, strategy, time management and effective communication.

VIVEKANANDA GIRIJANA KALYANA KENDRA, B R HILLS

One Day Faculty Outreach Program was organised by the Department of MBA on July 27, 2019. The visited place was Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra, B R Hills. Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra (VGKK) is a Non – Governmental Organisation committed to the holistic, sustainable development of tribal people, keeping in mind their socio-cultural background and their rights. Dr. Arun, the person In-charge of the kendra and his colleagues helped us to know the programmes carried out for the tribal people.

The faculty members interacted with students. The students were given some Yoga tips to improve concentration and health. Few activities were also conducted for the students such as singing of bhajans and games. Thereafter the faculty members visited ancient Vishnu temple at BR Hills to seek his blessings.

VISIT TO BIG BARN FARM

One of the effective ways of teaching some of the management lessons is through outbound learning activity. The individual and team behavior is improved through outdoor activities which uses experiential learning techniques.

Some of the skills like team building, leadership skills, planning, change management, motivation, delegation, coordination, time management and many more are learnt through outbound learning activities.

Today’s students are the leaders of tomorrow. As a part of Institutional social responsibility, BNMIT ensures students are sensitized about the social responsibility right from now so that, they become responsible citizens of tomorrow.

OUTBOUND ACTIVITY- VISIT TO PYRAMID VALLEY

Inspired by the vision of  Brahmarshi Patriji’s that “ Masters of the World – Unite ”, Pyramid Valley is set up with a core objective of providing a common platform for all world spiritual masters, to collaborate for a peaceful and love-filled planet Earth in the shortest possible time. It is situated in Kanakpura Road, Bangalore

The students got to experience the serene atmosphere and an opportunity to learn the right technique to meditate. Students were also told about the various benefits that one can get through meditation. Some of them are calm mind, enhanced concentration, improved clarity and communication, and relaxation of the mind and body. Students also got to learn the concept of Pyramid Energy and an opportunity to browse literature by spiritual masters across the world in a tiny yet enchanting book store on the premises. This experience was indeed very divine and alleviating.

VISIT TO AKSHAYA PATRA FOUNDATION

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non-profit organisation feeding millions of undeserved children in India. Carrying out the world’s largest NGO-run feeding program, Akshaya Patra aims to not only fight hunger but also bring children to school. In Karnataka, Akshaya Patra Foundation has six kitchens in five locations, which feed 4,86,172 children in 2,968 schools. Students were made to understand, appreciate and learn the supply chain, distribution of food across schools.
