Workshop on “Circuit Prototyping”

A workshop on circuit prototyping was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student branch on 25th and 26th October 2019. Fifty-nine students from Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering actively participated in this workshop. The resource person, Mr. Kotresh M. is an experienced trainer and currently the director of Indian Tech-Keys, Bengaluru. He is a skilled PCB designer with experience in the RS Components and Controls.

Mr. Kotresh gave an introduction to the working of Analog Circuits, PCB Technology, Schematic Design Practice, Foot Print Design, Foot Print Transfer and Etching. He also gave a practical demonstration of PCB Drilling, Info Layer, Component Placement, Soldering, Unit Testing, Circuit Integration and Product Testing.

The students were able to design and develop PCB board for wireless controlling systems, industrial automation and sensor based products. Students learnt PCB design using Designspark PCB software. They were able to print the design on copper clad using toner transfer method followed with few scientific steps and mount all the required electronic components on it with soldering.

Workshop on “Application development using Microservices Architecture”

A workshop on application development using Microservices Architecture was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student chapter on 20th and 21st September, 2019. Fifty-eight students from Computer Science & Engineering and Information Science & Engineering have actively participated in this workshop. The resource person for the workshop, Mr. Prashanth Raghu is a senior backend engineer from Signeasy Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Prashanth gave an introduction to Microservices and conducted hands-on sessions on API development using REST framework, Microservices development using Flask/PostMan, SQLAlchemy, logging and JWT. He also gave practical demonstration of user registration and authentication microservice, development of File Management and File Sharing Microservice.

During the workshop, students learnt the use of Flask web framework using Python. They were able to develop a video streaming application using File Management Microservice. The students developed monolithic application code of creating and decoding real time JSON Web tokens (JWT) and learnt to split and run a huge monolithic application code into small microservices application code. The students also learnt to use microservice as an access-provider to authenticate and authorize users using their user id and JWT tokens.

Workshop on “Circuit Prototyping”

Two days workshop on Circuit Prototyping was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student branch on 2nd  and 3rd  November 2018. The workshop was held in laboratory M-006 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Fifty-nine students from Computer Science Engineering and Information Science and Engineering have actively participated in this workshop. The resource person, Mr. Kotresh M is an experienced trainer and currently the director of organization Indian Tech-Keys, Bengaluru. He is a skilled PCB Designer with experience in the RS Components and Controls-Indiaindustry.

The topics covered on Day-1 with hands-on sessions are: ITK introduction, Analog Circuit Explanation with working, PCB Technology and Tool Explanation, Schematic Design Practice, Foot Print Design, Foot Print Transfer and Etching. Workshop on “I/O Interfacing with Embedded System”

A two-day workshop on I/O Interfacing with Embedded System was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student branch on 3rd and 4th May 2019 in association with Indian Tech-Keys, Bengaluru. Fifty-one students from Computer Science & Engineering had actively participated in the workshop. The resource person was Mr. Kotresh M, director, Indian Tech-Keys, Bengaluru.

The objective of the workshop was to give a hands-on exposure about interface of multiple sensors and driver circuits with embedded system and embedded system programming with Arduino Microcontroller architecture which gave an exposure to participants on embedded system design and development.

On Day-1 introduction to Microcontrollers, Microprocessors, Embedded System Architecture, Aurdino IDE tool, Testing & Troubleshooting the circuits, program writing for basic switching application with control command, Interfacing Keypad for Arduino Uno Board , Interfacing sensor circuits was discussed.

On Day-2 introduction to communication devices, Interfacing driver circuits with loads, transmitting commands to driver circuits, Interfacing of communication devices like DTMF, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, was discussed.

Students also learnt designing of the embedded system application and the interfacing using sensors and driver circuits and finally tested the product designed by them. The students were able to understand the methodology of innovative product development.

 

 

Mr. Vighnesh Shinde, Robotics & Embedded System Trainer, Finland Labs giving an insight on developing a robot driven by the mobile control for an application

Workshop on “Mobile Control Robotics”

Two days workshop on Mobile Control Robotics was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student branch on 15th and 16th February 2019 in association with Finland Labs and Revert Technology, Gurugram. BNMIT was considered as the Zonal Centre for National Level workshop cum championship program. Sixty-Seven students from Computer Science & Engineering and Information Science & Engineering had actively participated in the workshop. The resource person was Mr. Vighnesh Shinde, Robotics & Embedded System Trainer, Finland Labs.

On Day-1 introduction to robotics and microcontrollers, programming languages with different algorithms were discussed. On Day-2 installation of software and debugging, assembling the kit, generating different LED Patterns, development of line following robot, development of edge avoiding robot, generating different LED pattern using mobile phone and development of mobile controlled robot were discussed.

In the last session on the second day, students had to develop robot driven by the mobile control for an application. A competition was conducted for all the teams and it was evaluated based on the robot design and team work and 5 best team were selected and awarded with the certificates. All the participants were recognised with the participation certificates.

 

 

Students and Faculty at IOT Exhibition, KTPO, Bengaluru during their Industrial Visit

Visit to “IOT-Exhibition”

A visit to IoT exhibition was organized by Department of Information Science and Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering under BNMIT CSI student chapter on 28th February, 2019. The exhibition was held at KTPO Trade Centre Whitefield industrial area Bengaluru from 26th February 2019 to 28th February 2019.The three day event included 9 conferences, 18 Training courses and 6 Tutorials in various domains like Block Chain and Distributed Ledgers, Python for Data science, IoT in agriculture, Edge Analytics and Hierarchal Temporal Memory (HTM). 150 exhibitors exhibited their IoT products during the exhibition. Students from educational institutions were permitted to participate in the exhibition on 28th February 2019.  28 students from Department of Information Science and Engineering & 74 students from Computer Science and Engineering visited the IoT Exhibition.

Alcodex Technologies Pvt ltd, Bluetooth Sig, Chipmax Designs, Elsys Technology, Google cloud were some of the companies that showcased their products. Industrial Automation, Street Light IoT, Auto face detection, Home automation, Smart Watch products were exhibited.  Students had an opportunity to interact with different companies and learnt about the lifecycle of product development, importance of innovativeness, the financial and marketing phase of product development. Students had an insight to industry best practices involving design and manufacture to make products smarter.

Android Application Development Workshop with resource person Mr. Vishwa Kiran

 

Workshop on “Android Application Development”

Three days workshop on Android Application Development was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student chapter on 4th, 5thand 6thNovember, 2017. Seventy students from Computer Science Engineering and Information Science and Engineering have actively participated in this workshop. The resource person, Mr. VishwaKiran is a senior corporate trainer fromAprameyah Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and research scholar from UVCE. He has 15 years of rich experience as a corporate trainer and software developer.

The topics covered on Day 1 with hands-on sessions are:Android Architecture and studio, Running Android application using Emulator and Android Phone, UI design by using XML, Adding onClick Listeners. The topics coveredon Day 2 with hands-on sessions are: Famous quote application, Application to Initiate Calls, Android Manifest file, Developing Application to play audio and video, Different Types of Layouts, DDMS, ADB Tools. The topics covered on Day 3 with hands-on sessions are: Thread Based application, Splash Screen Application, Developing background application by using Services, Intent Service, Bound Service, Writing application to receive broadcast messages Design Attributes, Developing application to store and retrieve data through content provider.

The students were able to develop media player and telephony based applications, design user Interface using XML, develop service based application, develop an application to store and retrieve data and develop receiver based application as an outcome of this workshop.

IOT-Exhibition

Electronics For You (EFY) group had organized a new age technology show as a part of India Electronics Week at KTPO Trade Centre, Whitefield Industrial area, Bangalore on 7th to 9th February, 2018. It had 10 conferences and 15 workshops in various domain like smart factory reference architecture, Alexa and virtual assistants, Robotics and Arduino, how to build your own chatbot etc. 150 exhibitor had exhibited their IoT products. 166 students from Department of Computer Science, Information Science & Electronics and Engineering visited this IoT Exhibition on 9th February, 2018.

Innovations were related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Home Automation technology. Companies that were present in the event were 3C TAEYANC, CHIPMAX Design PVT limited, EMSOL Systems etc.. 3D-Thermal printer, Auto face detection, Home automation, Theft Alarms products were displayed in the exhibition.  Students had an opportunity to interact with people in different companies which helped them to seek out for internships.

Technofest Exhibition Visit

On the occasion of CSIR platinum Jubilee Celebrations, CSIR had organized Technofest Exhibition from 25th to 27th October, 2017. We are fortunate enough to take Fifty two students (also CSI members) from Computer Science & Engineering and Information Science & Engineering to visit the exhibition held at CSIR-NAL, HAL Airport road, Bengaluru-17 on 25th October, 2017. Dr. Sejal Santosh Nimbhorkar, Associate Professor, Department of CSE and Mr. Manjunath G S, Assistant Professor, Department of ISE accompanied students for the exhibition. The exhibition covered key contributions of CSIR to the Science & Technology in the field of food, agriculture, energy, aerospace, landslide and health. Students interacted with the CSIR scientists to understand technology used in the development of various product like fuel cell, wet waste management, Loco pilot view assist plus, Recyclable LED street light system etc.. With this exhibition, students got insight of using new technologies in the development of societal needs.

Workshop on “Virtual Reality”

A workshop on Virtual Reality was conducted in collaboration with ITC-IIT, Mumbai, and CSI-BNMIT student branch on 16th and 17th March, 2018. The workshop was held in seminar hall N401 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. One hundred and four students from Computer Science Engineering and Information Science and Engineering have actively participated in this workshop. The resource person, Mr. Janardhan Chaudhary is a design engineer at Design Technology. The topics covered on Day 1 with hands-on session are: Need of Virtual Reality, comparison between different VR headset, Google cardboard, Unity software tool, command, importing Google VR SDK to Unity, Linking Unity with Android Studio. The topics covered on Day 2 with hands-on session are: Adding texture, audio, text in game, concept of canvas, adding impressive images, concept of GVR recticle pointer, GVR event system, importing game to mobile. Students have developed Maze game as an outcome of the workshop. Technical test and evaluation of the game was conducted at the end of the workshop.

Workshop on “Webservices and JSON”

Two days workshop on Webservices, Javascript and JSON was conducted under CSI-BNMIT student chapter on 4th and 5th November, 2017. Fifty eight students from Computer Science Engineering and Information Science and Engineering have actively participated in this workshop. The resource person, Mr. Albin Xavier is a corporate trainer and sun certified java programmer from Aprameyah Technologies Pvt. Ltd.. He has 11 years of rich experience as a corporate trainer and software developer. He received Best Trainer award in Accenture and highest training rating 5.0/5.0 in Oracle Financial Service.

The topics covered on Day 1 with hands-on sessions are: How to include JavaScript in an HTML document, The JavaScript syntax and data, JavaScript Statements, Arrays and Web Storage, How to create and use functions, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and Ajax Development. The topics covered on Day 2 with hands-on sessions are: Introduction to REST, Designing RESTful Services, Developing a JAX-RS RESTful Service, HTTP Method and URI Matching and JAX-RS Injection.

The students were able to develop real-world JavaScript applications, create object-oriented JavaScript applications using JSON to transmit and store data, design and build RESTful services & clients and build JAX-RS services as an outcome of this workshop.
