The speaker began his lecture with a live example from the industry – how actual product promotion takes places and how operation management works in HUL. The Speaker explained students on how fundamental knowledge of business operations plays an important role in any field of business management. He gave the following insights of a business-
Sales and marketing: How to evaluate the existing market developments, trends & collate information to develop business.
Retail operations: Importance of Product demo- How to adopt a suitable discipline in pricing and discounting physical presentation of products and place. How can managers decide about which product should be presented to which customers and at what time.
He gave an insight of how HUL worked at the time of covid pandemic and how they diversified their production from necessity products to hygiene products (sanitizer, hand wash etc.)
Production promotion was explained with various promotion tools and method to use this tool effectively in order to place the product in customers mind for a long time. The Speaker gave an idea about how mystery shopping takes place. Speaker also highlighted the importance of having the right attitude to grow in one’s career and being flexible. He gave few real- life examples of strategy and clarified questions raised by students.
